I am writing this letter of recommendation for Mr.Caleb,my former student. I have known Mr. Caleb for more than 6 years since his freshman year at "University of Minnesota". At that time,he took the course-- "Mathematical Analysis," which I taught mainly for junior students majoring in Mathematics.
To my surprise,I found he was among the few students in his class who could keep up with the pace of my lectures. Moreover,he often posed thought-provoking questions during the course. Thus it was natural that I liked discussing with this young man and became familiar with him. The more I knew him,the more I found he was talented at mathematics. As you can see,he got excellent scores on the course.
In fact,he ranked No. 1 on this 270 hours course in the talented student class which has 34 intelligent others. With his outstanding talent and solid mathematical background,he also did quite well in most other courses during his undergraduate study. By the way,you may wonder why his undergraduate scores look not so good compared to other Chinese applicants. It is easy to explain,because he belonged to the talented student class,which were required to endure harder test papers and stricter grading than most other college students did at least at "University of Minnesota". He even served as Prof. Linda s Research Assistant for one year. No one could deny his commitment to his job.
As a matter of fact,Prof. Linda s electronic lab happened to be neighboring my office and I could always see him working in the lab,either repairing the instruments or helping Prof. Linda collect lab reports. Maybe one more example will demonstrate his commitment more clearly. once he suggested compiling a FORTRAN program to solve a complicated circuit problem in his class. In order to do that,he had to do a lot of computer work. However,because there were few computers available in our computer lab,he had to wake up at 5 a.m. in winter (please note: "Twin city" is a downtown near the north border of China,so it is pretty cold in winter and the heating system is not working very well.) to ensure the 1st position of the long waiting line for his classmates and himself! At last he and his classmates finished the program successfully with his great efforts.
As to his personality,I would like to say Mr. Caleb is a warm-hearted,honest and upright student. He was always ready to help others. During my lectures,many students got confused at some points and I could always see Mr. Caleb help them explain during breaks. In the meanwhile,I must admit that Mr. Caleb was a bit impatient sometimes.
Finally,I would like to conclude my recommendation as follows: frankly,Mr. Caleb is not a genius,but I promise his great intelligence,commitment to work and his kind nature will impress you deeply. In capacity as Professor of Mathematics at Fudan University,I'm writing to recommend Mr. Wang Gesintosyour PhD program in Computer Science. I have known Mr. Wang since his sophomore year of college?and have acted as his thesis advisor and mentor. In my experience he is a gifted and diligent student and an admirably hard worker.
Wang is an impressive student because he has been forced to overcome the significant challenge of a serious illness during his freshman year. When I first met Wang in my Discrete Math class he did not appear to be anything special to me. While his exam scores were good?they were not as high as I would now expect of him. What I didn't know then was that due to his illness Wang was attempting to take all of the difficult early mathematics courses at one time?including Discrete Mathematics Advanced Mathematics Linear Algebra and Possibilities. While most students found preparing for just one set of these exams difficult Wang was overwhelmed by four of them. But in the end he achieved an impressive score on the final exam which made me conscious of his unusual determination he demonstrates when confronting difficult challenges.
Mr. Wang and I have often talked about a variety of mathematics and computer science concepts and problems. During these discussions I always found him to be delightfully intelligent. Not only does he quickly understand the concepts and problems presented to him he is able to analyze these problems and present solutions. But perhaps most important is that Wang's thinking is intensely rigorous. When looking at any question he carefully scrutinizes it and if he finds any uncertain issues he clears them up immediately. I believe this kind of thought is essential to become an excellent computer programmer.
Serving as his thesis advisor?I had a first-hand opportunity to observe the way in which Wang's mind works. In his senor thesis Mr. Wang mainly discussed two challenging questions in regards to″ANN″. In our books in China knowledge of ANN and its uses are very rare. Few people in China have studied this topic and consequently the materials that are available on ANN are limited. Working on this difficult project not only did Mr. Wang rise to the challenge but he went above and beyond the call of duty to analyze his secondary sources and test them for accuracy in practice. In this way?he found mistakes in the book that we use. His diligence and hard work made me extremely proud of him.
Mr. Wang is an intelligent motivated and industrious individual. Teaching and advising him has been a delightful pleasure. I know that if given the chance to study abroad in America he will arm himself to become a great programmer he dreams of being. He has the intelligence and background to achieve these goals – now all he needs is the opportunity. I ask that you look upon his application favorably and grant him a chance to study in your university.

出國(guó)留學(xué)上課老師講外語(yǔ)還是國(guó)語(yǔ)?聽(tīng)不懂咋辦?。?!

上課一定是通過(guò)語(yǔ)言交流的。你的英語(yǔ)能力達(dá)不到以英語(yǔ)作為交流手段的上課要求,你坐在那個(gè)課堂有什么意義呢?如果錢能讓你聽(tīng)得懂課,你花錢就好??蛇@不是錢能辦到的事??!
用國(guó)語(yǔ)上課的課堂在大陸、臺(tái)灣或其他國(guó)家的華人社區(qū)。找國(guó)語(yǔ)上課的課堂不用出國(guó),也談不上留學(xué)。
你現(xiàn)在聽(tīng)不懂英語(yǔ)上課不等于你以后聽(tīng)不懂。要么先把英語(yǔ)學(xué)好再出國(guó)留學(xué),要么出國(guó)去學(xué)英語(yǔ)(也算是留學(xué)哈)。如果是后者,老老實(shí)實(shí)用心學(xué),你可以學(xué)好。別指望這也能花錢解決問(wèn)題。

在職教師出國(guó)留學(xué)申請(qǐng)必須要到戶籍所在地嗎?

出國(guó)留學(xué)申請(qǐng)無(wú)論人在哪里都可以辦理。
現(xiàn)在很多國(guó)外學(xué)校的申請(qǐng)僅需要申請(qǐng)人在網(wǎng)上遞交申請(qǐng)材料即可。
網(wǎng)絡(luò)已經(jīng)不受空間的限制,人無(wú)論在哪里,只要有網(wǎng)絡(luò)的地方就可以完成這件事兒。
即使國(guó)外學(xué)校需要學(xué)生提交紙質(zhì)資料,也是只需要發(fā)快遞就行了,發(fā)快遞也不受所謂的空間限制,只要有可以郵寄國(guó)際快遞的地方就可以。
以上的情況適用于所有要申請(qǐng)出國(guó)留學(xué)的人,無(wú)論是學(xué)生,還是已經(jīng)工作的人員,當(dāng)然,在職教師也是包含在內(nèi)的。

出國(guó)留學(xué)上課時(shí)老師用什么語(yǔ)言教課?

得看情況,都有的??隙ㄊ怯杏帽緡?guó)語(yǔ)言教學(xué)的,不過(guò)一般性一些比較前衛(wèi)的跟國(guó)際接軌的課程,尤其是商科類,都是有英語(yǔ)授課的,甚至有些必須用英語(yǔ)授課,主要還要看你想學(xué)的專業(yè)和想去的學(xué)校。
我現(xiàn)在就在看法國(guó)的一些學(xué)校,準(zhǔn)備過(guò)去讀研的,我申請(qǐng)的就是英語(yǔ)授課的。
